Nicole’s mum, Aidie, rang to see if I could do Nicole’s make-up for her school prom. Aidie was concerned that the desired look of lots of heavy black eyeliner, would not suit the dress for the evening. Although it was short notice we did manage a trial and agreed on a smokey look that managed to avoid the black eyeliner!
So, when Paul and I arrived on the night, Nicole’s short dark funky hair was already in place with tiara and her skin was cleansed, toned and moisturised in preparation.
Nicole has exquisite eyes which I couldn’t wait to start on, but first things first I always begin by applying the foundation…
then I smooth and blend right up to the hairline, over the front of the ears, below the jawline and halfway down the neck. As you can see below, it went on like a dream.
Having applied powder to set the foundation and blusher to shadow and enhance the cheekbone area, I started on her eyes 🙂 Using the palest of pale pinks and a variety of golden browns to bring out the shape and colours of her eyes, I finished with a smokey purple eyeliner on the upper and lower lids to achieve the smokey look Nicole favours.
I used a dark purple to compliment Nicole’s dress.
Torture weapon number 1 – eyelash curlers! Nicole has lashes most of us would die for so we didn’t use false ones. I curled them…
and applied a black waterproof mascara to top and bottom lashes.
The finishing touches were a silk loose powder to make her skin glow (even more), a nude colour lipstick and sparkly gloss. Cinderella was ready to go to the ball.
I would like to say at this point that absolutely no air brushing type jiggery pokery has been used on any of these photographs…this is Nicole with minimum make-up and maximum beauty. What a stunner!
Hope you had a fantastic evening. Thank you for being such a willing model and letting us use your pictures.
For those interested in make-up the products I used to achieve the above look came from – MAC, L’Oreal, Max Factor and Lancome.
