A twist on an old tale
Taken from the fairy stories that often seed the idea of a dream wedding, our name acknowledges that you’ve found your prince or princess among the box of frogs.
But it’s not just our name that’s different. Our entire approach to wedding photography is unique and being relatively new to Yorkshire, we want you to know who we are and how we will enhance your day.
To us your wedding is a story, one that we can help you to tell in pictures that will last a lifetime.
A marriage of talents
When we married, our day was everything that we’d dreamed of and more. Yet, we soon realised that not every bride and groom or bride and bride or groom and groom for that matter, enjoyed the same amazing experience.
It was our desire to give all couples – whatever the combination – the chance to enjoy the wedding of their dreams, which led to the creation of our new approach to wedding photography.
With my background in wedding hair and makeup styling and Paul’s career as a professional wedding photographer, it was a natural step to combine our skills.
From start to finish
I love the challenge of styling hair and applying makeup to create that incredible look for one-off occasions. It’s why I’ve specialised in professional wedding hair and makeup for so many years.
Paul meanwhile, prefers a candid approach to wedding photography, believing he is there to record the story and not direct the performance.
By merging our skills, we now offer you the full experience. We’ll create the look you desire and capture your wedding in a series of images that will transport you back to the special day, every time you look at them.
Working together, we make sure that you look as fresh and radiant in the evening as you did in the morning (both in the flesh and in your photos).
With our personal, yet low-key approach to your wedding styling and photography, we’ll make sure that you feel like a princess (and a prince) all day long.
It’s all perfectly normal
You’ll feel a jumble of emotions on your wedding day – excitement, nerves, joy, worry and possibly even fear at being the centre of attention (and that’s usually just the mother of the bride!).
But don’t worry, it’s all perfectly normal. In fact, it’s part of what makes your wedding day so special and memorable. And we’re lucky enough to experience it time and again with every couple we work with.
We like to think of ourselves as a rock of calm in a turbulent sea of emotion – or at least a lifebelt you can cling to in case your mother-in-law-to-be turns up offering last minute help and advice. Not that we’re suggesting anything about mother-in-laws, you understand.
Whatever happens, from the moment we arrive, we’ll do our level best to help you enjoy the wedding of your dreams. Our motto is: if it’s legal and doable, we’ll give it a go.
All about you
The reason we can be so calm is because we know that everything will be all right on the night – or day. After all, we’ve already discovered your dream hair style and makeup in our trial session. All Nikki has to do, is re-create the look you love.
You can rely on Paul to capture your story as it unfolds. From the first moments to the last dance, you’ll have a complete record of your day – maelstrom and all.
Nikki can help you into your wedding dress or outfit, making sure that it falls and folds in all the right places.
Finishing touches
Together we will make sure that your makeup works with the weather and lighting, adding the professional touches that transforms ‘you look lovely’ into ‘Wow! You look amazing!’.
As soon as you leave for your ceremony, we fade into the background while you and your partner take centre stage.
But be assured we’re never far away. Working as a discrete team – Paul will record your wedding day, while Nikki is on hand to add those little touches that make all the difference.
A different look
As the bride, you’ll steal the show as soon as you arrive at your wedding. But why stop there?
With our help, you can alter your image for the evening, setting your guests up for another jaw-dropping moment. If you’ve worn your hair up all day, change to a more flowing style or perhaps you prefer the other way round – it’s your day and your choice.
All we know is that with our experts on hand you’ll be pictured looking as amazing in the last photo of the day as you did in the first.
Preparing for the big day
This part of our service is the reason we can be so calm when it comes to your actual wedding day.
At Box of Frogs we leave nothing to chance – and we mean nothing.
We always arrange to meet with you both to discuss how you imagine your day will be.
It gives you the opportunity to talk about what you want from your photos and to voice any concerns or family issues that may have a bearing on the photography. If you need Aunty B to be kept away from Uncle C, don’t worry, we’ll be incredibly discreet about it.
We just want you both to be able to relax and enjoy your day without worry.
Getting the style right
If you choose to take advantage of our wedding styling, Nikki will give you a full consultation. Tell Nikki what you like, what you don’t like and the bits you want to hide.
Easy to talk to and incredibly experienced, Nikki can suggest ideas to suit you, your colouring and the practical demands of your wedding. Together you’ll also trial different options until you discover the style that makes you go ‘Wow, that’s the look I want!’.
At all times, Nikki’s aim is to create a look that enhances, rather than changes, your natural beauty
A practice run
So that you become familiar with being in front of the camera and get to know how Paul works, we’ll arrange for a pre-wedding photo shoot. By the time your wedding arrives, we want you to be so comfortable with us that you barely notice we’re there.
All your own way
While we believe that your wedding photos should offer you a lifetime of memories, we don’t believe that they should cause you to start married life in debt.
We start with a basic price, allowing you to build your own wedding photography plan. It means that you can have a lasting record of your wedding, with 4 hours of photography from just £1000.
Our clients are usually pleasantly surprised by the amazing value offered by our flexible approach. But to us it just makes sense, after all it’s your wedding, so why shouldn’t you do it your way.
Wedding photography for today’s world
One of the really exciting parts of our service is still waiting for you when you return from honeymoon.
No doubt bronzed and relaxed, (unless, of course, you’ve been skiing) you’ll be in the perfect mood to enjoy your own private showing of your wedding photos.
Taking advantage of today’s technology, all your wedding photos can be given to you in electronic format, on an Apple Ipod Touch. Some of our packages actually include the Apple iPod Touch as standard.
We can also provide you with 2 DVDs or 2 CDs showing the photos of your day in sequential order. One is to keep, the other to give to a parent or trusted friend for safe keeping, just in case your copy should be damaged or lost through flood, fire, theft or possibly an accident prone toddler in years to come.
It’s an unusual approach, but it’s one that offers you complete freedom over your wedding photographs.
Your photos for you to print
Like other wedding photographers, we can always supply you with printed photos, bound in an album or framed enlargements, if you prefer. But they are your wedding photos and we want you to have the flexibility to do with them as you please.
By putting you in touch with our suppliers, you can order reprints, parents’ albums and enlargements at your convenience.
